Dear Learning Bee Parents & Students,

September is a month of embracing new opportunities in meeting new teachers, making new acquaintance in schools, or even starting out a new chapter of one's young life by entering Kindergarten for most kids.  For our team  at Learning Bee,  it's simply a month to rejoice in seeing our group of returning students and families along with the addition of new families and staff to our hive.

I hope you all have read the welcome letter from our head teacher  in each grade level along with the newly revised Daily Activity Schedule that was e-mailed to you back in 2nd week of this school year!  We are committed to continue keeping you abreast of pertinent information on development of Learning Bee via the use of technology. If you haven't got a chance to visit our BeeBlog since it's inception this past summer, please do so at your leisure! It is still a "WIP", work in progress.  Our website is also undergoing "makeover" behind the scene in hope of bringing you and our community a "portal-like" interface not only on the learning experience of our bees in the hive, but also the relevant information and events that are kids-oriented or kids-friendly right here in our neighborhood.

Without further adduce,  it's time to give you a formal progress update on our facility expansion project at the formerly "Flower Addicts" location right next door to Lucky's Supermarket in our plaza. While our architect and general contractor having been working diligently with me since early summer, the progress with the construction is still moving relatively slow due to the very fact that the previous occupant didn't vacate the premises until late July and we are still waiting for the official signoff on the permit from the Planning Division of City of Fremont. As we speak, we are anticipating completion of construction and final signoff by the city official by end of October.

I am eager to get our new initiative of establishing a "state of art" Technology & Science lab at the new location along with presenting the new auditorium to our students.  More exciting curricula will be added to our program offerings once the space opens up including but not limiting to "level-based" Math & Writing curriculum (G1 & Up), Mini-moving Making & Editing Workshop, Martial Art San Soo, Computer/Graphics Workshop and the new 2011 Universal Kid Summer Camp that includes innovative & engaging curricula for 5th - 8th Graders! Stay tuned, more to come!

Meanwhile, we are also starting to establish routine and discipline in making use of our newly constructed outdoor playground for exclusive use by Learning Bee (in back parking lot, right by Mission Valley Swim Club or behind Rachel's Ballot School). Currently, we have a portable basketball hoop stand and wall ball boards for our students to enjoy!  We have a plan to put together our very won "mini-organic" garden there as well for our students to take care of as part of their science and daily responsibility routine!

To bring all our ideas and plans into fruition, we need your support!  I am personally inviting any of our  parents who have interest, speciality expertise in computer networking, Lego Robotics, web design and mostly enthusiasm in building a better future for our next generation to join hands with me and my dedicated & creative team to invest your time and knowledge in raising the bar for the education standard for all of our deserving children.  Please contact me directly in this regards!

I look forward to another exciting year to fulfill more "Big Dreams" by little bees in this hive!

Your support and faith in us all have been instrumental to our never ending strive for excellence!

Sincerely,
Grace Wong
Program Director & Founder

Recruiting Members (Age 9-14)
First Lego Robotics Team at Learning Bee

"Exposing your children to the exciting world of science & technology,   gaining valuable experience in learning life skills!" As quoted directly from the mission of The First Lego League (www.firstlegoleague.org), this concurs with the mission & objectives to the formation of the very first Lego Robotics Team, "The RoboBee",  at Learning Bee.

We are now recruiting 5-6 members joining our team to get started with the upcoming Lego Robotics Tournament in early December.  This year , the challenge theme is "Body Forward", Engineering meets Medicine. FLL teams will explore the cutting-edge world of Biomedical Engineering to discover innovative ways to repair injuries, overcome genetic predisposition, and maximize the body's potential, with the intended purpose of leading happier and healthier lives.

This opportunity requires time and financial commitment from the members and parents interested in joining us! All boys & GIRLS of age 9 to 14(Grade 4 - 8) are eligible to participate in the First Lego League Challenge.

Parents involvement is as crucial as the time & effort spend by each of the team member.  Parents will be ask to "facilitate" the process, not leading the process.  No prior Lego Robotics experience is required.

We will be having our honorable Lego Robotics Instructors, Mr. Jaemin, Mr. Kevin and Mr. Danny, who are veterans Lego FLL participants since their first entry back in 4th Grade along with years of experience in Annual Tech Challenge to offer technical support and guidance to our new team, "The RoboBee"!

Remember, winning is secondary! All matters is the experience and the process we go through with our kids in this challenge and to learn from others' successes and failures!

Parents with expertise in the medical field are welcome to join our honorable advisory board for the team!

Please contact Ms. Grace directly (in person or email to grace@4learningbee.com) by the deadline of Wednesday, October 6 to sign up!
A dedicated "RoboBee Web Page" will be made available for all confirmed participants shortly.

Let's make it happen!!!!
